Controller/CFO Opportunity – Small Company
Our client, a well-established small business in the Trenton, NJ area, is seeking a hands-on Controller/CFO to join their leadership team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced finance professional who enjoys working in an entrepreneurial, family-owned environment where no two days are the same. The ideal candidate will be comfortable wearing multiple hats, partnering directly with ownership, and contributing across accounting, finance, HR, and office operations. The position offers a strong work-life balance with a hybrid schedule of 4 days onsite and 1 day remote . Local candidates only. Responsibilities

- Oversee all day-to-day accounting operations and report regularly to ownership.
- Manage cash flow, banking relationships, and compliance with bank covenants.
- Supervise Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, payroll, and all other accounting and finance functions.
- Lead the monthly financial close process and ensure timely, accurate financial reporting.
- Coordinate sales and use tax filings, quarterly reporting, and work closely with the company's CPA firm.
- Partner with an HR Generalist to oversee human resources functions.
- Manage front office administrative operations as needed.
- Support leadership with financial planning, analysis, and strategic decision-making.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.
- CPA designation required (active or previously held).
- Experience using QuickBooks Online.
- Previous experience working in a small, family-owned or entrepreneurial organization.
- Strong accounting, financial management, and organizational skills.
- Ability to thrive in a hands-on role with diverse responsibilities.
