Must-Have: Positive attitude with a focus on teamwork. Minimum of 2 years of recent MedSurg, Telemetry, and Step-Down (PCU) level experience.

Description: The unit cares for a diverse range of patients. The goal is to provide a high standard of patient safety and care. The unit does not serve as an overflow or holding area. It functions as a Clinical Decision/Direct Admit Unit. The primary focus is receiving admitted patients, completing admission assessments, medication reconciliation, and initiating acute care orders. This process is designed to reduce the overall length of stay and enhance the patient and family experience. Nurses will encounter various diagnoses, making a well-rounded background beneficial. Charge Nurse experience or a willingness to consider such responsibilities is appreciated. There are minimal bedside procedures performed due to the environment. The unit aims for efficient ED decompression and improved throughput. Nurses are expected to float to other units within their skill set as needed. Additional opportunities may arise in telemetry and ED transport roles. The telemetry nurses oversee patients for safety and facilitate timely placement on telemetry as needed. ED transport nurses assist in moving higher acuity patients from the emergency department to specialized inpatient units. This initiative enhances throughput and nursing care continuity in the emergency department. Most nurses in this unit request extensions, with many having long tenure. Uniform requirements include navy blue and white attire, with appropriate jackets or sweaters allowed. The environment emphasizes teamwork and collaboration for effective patient care.
