Senior Research Associate, Oligonucleotide Chemistry

Tessera Therapeutics seeks a Senior Research Associate to perform small-scale synthesis and purification of oligonucleotides for platform research and preclinical studies. The role involves optimizing synthetic reactions and purification methods while collaborating with manufacturing teams on process development and scale-up.

Responsibilities

• Perform small-scale, high-throughput production of guide RNA to support internal research programs
• Optimize oligonucleotide synthesis and purification methods for scalability and cost-effectiveness
• Collaborate with manufacturing team during technology transfer and process scale-up activities
• Troubleshoot synthesizer and purification instrumentation independently and with team members
• Document experimental results and present findings to cross-functional research groups

Requirements

• BS in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field with 5+ years industry experience; or MS with 3+ years
• Hands-on experience with Mermade192 and Mermade12 oligonucleotide synthesizers
• Proficiency in upstream and downstream processing of oligonucleotides
• HPLC purification and analytical characterization of guide RNA preferred
• Experience with enzymatic ligation techniques preferred
• Familiarity with electronic laboratory notebooks for documenting experiments preferred
• Strong communication and independent troubleshooting capabilities
