This role provides senior technical leadership across datacentre, hybrid cloud, backup & recovery, and security controls—designing robust, defensible infrastructures that meet business RPO/RTO targets, withstand ransomware, and simplify operations.Key responsibilitiesArchitecture & Design Produce HLD/LLD for datacentre, hybrid cloud, and edge infrastructure: compute (VMware/Hyper-V), storage (SAN/NAS/Object), networks (core/distribution, micro-segmentation), identity (AD/Entra ID), and platform services (DNS, DHCP, NTP, PKI).Define defence-in-depth controls for ransomware resilience: privileged access model (PAW/PAM), network isolation, EDR, SIEM integration, logging/telemetry, and secure configuration baselines.Specify backup & recovery architectures: topology, immutability strategy, repository design, encryption, key management, offsite/air-gap, and automated recovery testing.Translate business needs into resilient architectures with measurable SLAs/SLOs, non-functional requirements, and capacity/availability models.Security & Compliance Embed controls aligned to frameworks such as ASD Essential Eight, NIST CSF/800-53, ISO 27001 (as applicable to the client), ensuring auditable designs and segregated duties.Lead tabletop, red-team/blue-team exercises and recovery drills; close findings with actionable patterns.Delivery Leadership Guide engineers through implementation; govern design deviations; assure quality through design reviews and architecture boards.Contribute to bids, SOWs, estimations, and risk registers; articulate options, trade-offs, and costs to senior stakeholders.Lifecycle & Operations Create operational readiness plans, monitoring and observability standards, and capacity/patching lifecycles.Champion automation (PowerShell/Terraform/Ansible) for builds, backups, patching, DR tests, and evidence collection.Your ProfileRequired experience & skillsDepth across datacentre infrastructure: Compute/Virtualisation: VMware vSphere (HA/DRS/vSAN), Hyper-V; host hardening; template/Golden Image pipelines.Storage: Block/file/object (FC, iSCSI, NVMe-oF), snapshots/replication, performance tiers, WORM/immutability.Network: L2/L3, routing, firewalls, VPN, Zero-Trust segmentation, load balancing, DNS/DHCP/IPAM.Identity & PKI: AD/Entra ID design, tiered admin model, ADFS/federation, certificates/CRL/OCSP.Ransomware resilience & security engineering: privileged access design (PAM/MFA/PAW), EDR/SIEM (e.g., Microsoft Defender, Sentinel, Splunk), hardening baselines (CIS/benchmarks), least-privilege patterns, secure backup pipelines, recovery isolation zones.Backup & Recovery mastery: Veeam/Commvault/Rubrik (or equivalent), immutable/object-lock repositories, synthetic fulls, SureBackup/instant recovery, application-aware backups (SQL, Oracle, SAP, Microsoft 365), DR orchestration (SRM/Runbooks), proven RPO/RTO delivery.Hybrid cloud fluency: Azure (preferred) and/or AWS—networking, storage, backup, DR to cloud, landing-zone patterns, identity integration, cost & performance optimisation.Delivery leadership: owns HLD/LLD, risks, and decisions; mentors engineers; communicates clearly to C-level, enterprise architects, and operations.Minimum qualifications8–12+ years in infrastructure/operations/architecture with 3–5+ years in solution/infrastructure architecture roles.Demonstrated end-to-end delivery of at least two complex recovery or datacentre modernisation programs.Strong written artefacts: HLD/LLD, recovery runbooks, ORR checklists, and migration plans.What you’ll love about working hereYou will be a part of a diverse collective of free-thinkers, entrepreneurs and industry experts.
