Geriatrics Department Licensed Practical Nurse

Maimonides is currently seeking Licensed Practical Nurses to join our Geriatrics Department. Our LPNs will coordinate day-to-day clinical activities, provide direct patient care in collaboration with physicians during visits, and manage patient flow throughout each visit.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare patients for medical examination; take vitals, perform EKGs, order medical supplies for the home program, and the geriatric patient clinic.
• Assist with procedures and collect specimens (e.g. finger puncture, phlebotomy, take urine samples, obtain and record vital signs, urine dipstick, CLIA, EKG, etc.) from patients and perform procedures.
• Prepare and administer injections and vaccinations.
• Fill out lab forms and requests for lab tests, label blood tubes and specimen collection containers, and arrange for specimens to be picked up.
• Contact laboratories for results and report to the physician.
• Monitor inventory of medical supplies to ensure stock is at par level.
• Clean exam rooms and waiting area in between patients and document Covid-19 screening in NextGen for patients and accompanying family and aide in adhering to Covid-19 protocols.
• Monitor medical equipment to ensure they are in proper working order.
• Answer telephones and make patient appointments, route calls, take messages from pharmacies, home care agencies, laboratories, insurance companies, doctor offices, and patients/families.

Qualifications:

• A NYS LPN License.
• A CPR/BLS Certification.
• A High School Diploma or GED.
• Minimum of one to two years of Geriatric care experience.
• Familiarity with common geriatric conditions (Alzheimer's, Dementia, Arthritis, Diabetes, mobility issues, etc.).

Pay Range: USD $37.20 - USD $40.64 /Hr.
