Proposal Specialist III

Job Description Proposal Specialist III – Lead and support proposals for AECOM’s Program Management business line. Work closely with the West Program Management marketing team, growth team, business operations, and support staff to bring strong leadership, a keen eye for compliance, skilled writing, and creativity to our must‑win pursuits. Lead complex proposals and presentations and support capture teams from pre‑RFP positioning through to interview stage as required. This is a hybrid position that can be based in, but is not limited to, Los Angeles, CA. Responsibilities Lead proposals and presentations and support from capture through interview stage. Create annotated outlines and content plans; recommend section structures to technical teams. Serve as lead writer/editor for tailored resumes, past performance sections, executive summaries, and management approaches. Facilitate color reviews, quality reviews, and apply lessons learned to add value to proposals. Manage implementation of proposal and presentation revisions based on review teams’ direction. Provide recommendations in go/no‑go and greenlight analyses in compliance with delegation of authority guidelines. Complete internal debriefs for proposals; support win/loss debriefs and gather client feedback for continuous improvement. Support marketing or pursuits strategy and content development related to clients/markets as necessary. Perform a self‑check of work before submission for review/approval. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in communications or related field and 4+ years of experience. Proficiency in InDesign and Creative Suite apps as well as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Acrobat Pro. Excellent writing and editing skills with strong attention to detail and a drive for continuous quality improvement. Experience using collaborative tools such as Microsoft Teams and SharePoint. Detailed knowledge of marketing best practices, work processes, and tools, including strategic use of AI. Ability to produce accurate, compliant, and compelling work independently and in a highly collaborative environment. Proven organizational and administrative skills, including meeting deadlines and guiding deliverable efforts. Initiative, skill, and commitment to manage multiple projects and details concurrently, and to bring tasks to full completion. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in communications or related field and 7+ years of experience in a proposal specialist role. Specialized knowledge or interest in the A/E/C industry, including AECOM’s projects and competitors. Salesforce understanding and experience is a plus. SMPS or APMP membership.
