The Position We are seeking aDirector, FP&Atoserve as a strategic finance partner to our R&D organization.In this highly visible role, you will support critical investment decisions across our development portfolio by delivering financial insights, forecasting, and decision support. You’llwork closely withR&Dand finance leadership to translate scientific and clinical strategies into actionable financial plans, helping ensure resources are deployed effectively across programs. Thisrolereports tothe Sr. Director of FP&Aand follows a hybrid scheduled oftwo-to-three days per week in office. The ImpactYou’llHave Strategic Partnership & Decision Support Partner with R&D leadership and project teams to develop portfolio and program-level financial plans Lead scenario modeling, cost-benefitanalyses, and vendor investment decisions Support clinical program investment decisions and other high-priority strategic initiatives Financial Planning & Analysis Deliveraccurateandtimelyforecasts, budgets, and long-range plans for R&D functions Prepare and present financial analyses to senior leadership, including materials for Board meetings Provide variance analysis and actionable insights to inform decision-making Cross-Functional Collaboration Partner closely withAccountingto align budget vs actuals, including accruals, coding, and variance reporting Collaborate with functional stakeholders to translate scientific and operational plans into financial outcomes Process Improvement & Systems Drive improvements in FP&A processes, reporting, and forecasting accuracy Partner with the Head of FP&A to enhance and automate allocation methodologies across programs and indications As a Director, we also expect our leaders to demonstrate the following Leadership Competencies: Communication and Influence Builds communication channels across Maze for sharing information. What We’re Looking For Experience & Background Bachelor’s degree inFinance, Accounting, Economics, or related field;MBA orequivalentexperiencepreferred. 10+yearsofexperiencein the pharmaceuticalor biotechindustry, including significant FP&A experience Experience supporting R&D or development organizations strongly preferred Clinical trial forecasting and accruals experience preferred Technical & Analytical Skills AdvancedproficiencyinExcel and PowerPoint Experience with financial systems such asNetSuite, Coupa,and Anaplan, or similar tools Strong financial modeling and forecasting capabilities, including ad hoc analysis Business Partnership & Communications Proven ability to build strong relationships and influence cross-functional stakeholders Ability to translate complex scientific and strategic concepts into clear financial insights Excellent written and verbal communication Execution & Mindset Highly organized with the ability to mange multiple priorities and meet deadlines Detail-oriented and solution-driven, with a focus on continuous improvement Collaborative mindset with a focus on improving efficiency and effectiveness Interest in exploring applications of AI to enhance FP&A processes This role follows a hybrid schedule, with an expectation to be onsite at our South San Francisco headquarters two-to-three days per week. Additionally, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus. Maze performs position-based compensation benchmarking to industry market data to ensure we pay competitive wages. Determination of starting salary will depend upon a variety of job-related factors, which may include professional experience, skills, and job location. The expected salary range for this role may bemodifiedin the future.
