Job Details Specialty: PACU Registered Nurse Setting: Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Employment Type: Travel Nurse Assignment Location: Upper Marlboro, MD 20774 Start Date: 09/14/2026 Duration: 13 weeks Shift Duration: 12-hour shifts Shifts Per Week: 3 Shift Schedule: Rotating days and nights; 07:30-20:00 and 19:30-08:00 Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,850 - $1,950 Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend Orientation: 72 hours Patient Population: Pediatrics through geriatrics Job Requirements Active Maryland RN license or compact RN license at time of submission Minimum 2 years of PACU nursing experience required Previous travel nursing experience required BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required NIH Stroke Scale certification or equivalent required Comfort working with a 1:4 patient ratio Epic EMR experience preferred Strong background in acute care recovery or post-operative nursing preferred Ability to float within specialty as needed Responsibilities Provide high-quality post-anesthesia care for surgical and procedural patients Monitor patients in Phase I and Phase II recovery Assess airway status, pain levels, sedation, and vital signs following surgery Respond to changes in patient condition and coordinate care with the surgical team Support recovery for orthopedic, neurology, cardiothoracic, vascular, general surgery, thoracic, urology, and gynecology cases Administer medications and manage IV therapy, drains, and other post-op interventions as appropriate Document patient assessments and recovery progress accurately in the charting system Educate patients and families on post-procedure expectations and discharge instructions Work collaboratively with interdisciplinary team members to promote safe, efficient patient flow Apply now for this PACU travel nurse opportunity in Upper Marlboro, Maryland, and join a healthcare team focused on quality recovery care and patient safety.
