Assistant Manager Operations LAX

Task Responsibilities Oversee the daily operation of Cargolux at LAX, ensuring safe, secure and on-time aircraft handling. Supervise the Ground Handling Agent (GHA) and service providers to ensure compliance with company procedures, safety regulations, and customer requirements. Coordinate import, export, transit and special cargo operation, including dangerous goods, live animals, valuables and temperature sensitive shipments. Ensure compliance with local regulatory requirements. Investigate operational irregularities, implement corrective and preventive actions, and monitor service quality through audits and performance reviews. Support staff training, coaching, and performance management while promoting a strong safety culture. Participate in contingency planning and operational decision-making during disruptions and irregular operations. Essential Requirements Extensive experience in air cargo and airline operations. Strong knowledge of Dangerous goods handling, aircraft loading, and cargo operations. Experience managing Ground Handling Agents and third-party service providers. Strong leadership, communications, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Ability to work under pressure and manage operational disruptions. Must be able to work on a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours, as operational requirements dictate. Working Conditions The position holder is based in Los Angeles The position demands a regular presence in the office and requires vacation and other absences to be planned so as to avoid conflicting with service needs. Occasional travel may be required. Flexibility may be needed with working hours.
