About the Position

We are seeking a Locums Critical Care Physician to provide 100% inpatient ICU coverage in Marlborough, Massachusetts. This is a long-term opportunity for an experienced critical care physician to manage a small ICU independently, with coverage needed for 6–12 months and the possibility of extension.

Local candidates are preferred, though travel candidates may be considered based on availability and travel costs.

Compensation : $300-$350 Per Hour

Schedule

• 24-hour coverage preferred but not required.

• Day shift: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM.

• Overnight call: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM.

• Coverage duration: 6–12 months, with potential extension.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive inpatient critical care to ICU patients.

• Independently manage approximately 6–8 patients in an 8-bed active ICU.

• Perform and manage critical care procedures, including:
  • Central line placement

  • Arterial line placement

  • Thoracentesis

  • Chest tube placement

  • Paracentesis

• Intubation may be performed as needed; ED and Anesthesia coverage is available.

• Collaborate with hospital staff to coordinate patient care and treatment plans.

• Maintain accurate and timely documentation using Epic EMR.

Clinical Environment

• 100% inpatient critical care.

• 10-bed ICU with 8 beds currently open.

• Typically 6–8 patients.

• Solo physician coverage.

• Epic EMR.

• Equipment includes an AmbuScope for bedside procedures and a GlideScope for intubation, if performed.

Requirements

• Active Massachusetts medical license required.

• Critical Care Fellowship required.

• Critical Care/ICU experience required.

• DEA and Massachusetts Controlled Substances Registration (CSR) required.

• Local candidates preferred; travel candidates considered based on availability and cost.
