Responsibilities
- Perform initial evaluations and ongoing therapy for adults with speech, language, voice, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders in the acute care setting.
- Conduct bedside swallow evaluations and, when indicated, MBSS (Modified Barium Swallow Study); plan and deliver targeted interventions to improve safety and nutrition.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, document progress, and adjust goals based on patient response and medical status.
- Document thoroughly in the electronic health record; participate in multidisciplinary rounds; communicate findings and recommendations to the care team and family.
- Educate patients and families about communication strategies, swallowing precautions, and discharge planning to support safe transitions to the next level of care.
- Collaborate with nursing, occupational therapy, physical therapy, and other team members; adhere to infection control and safety protocols; maintain professional standards in a fast-paced acute care environment.

Requirements
- At least two years of recent acute care experience with adults (one year considered if an acute care internship was completed).
- Current BLS certification.
- Current nursing license per the state of assignment.
- Proficiency in conducting MBSS (Modified Barium Swallow Study).
- Ability to work in an acute care setting and accommodate travel requirements; weekend rotation likely every 3rd Saturday/Sunday.
- Eligible for a travel assignment and able to float between units as patient care demands require.
