This position is based in our Raleigh, North Carolina office and offers the opportunity to work alongside experienced legal professionals on a variety of commercial real estate and development matters.This non-exempt administrative role reports to the Office Administrator and assigned attorneys and does not have direct reports. The paralegal will work a regular schedule established by the Office Administrator/HR and the attorneys they support. The typical schedule will consist of 7.5 hours per day equating to 37.5 hours per week. Additional hours (including overtime) will be required on occasion.Primary Duties and ResponsibilitiesDraft, prepare, and organize closing documentsPrepare closing statementsReview and plot legal descriptionsPrepare and file UCC financing statements and amendmentsOrganize and coordinate document signingPrepare closing bindersAcquire maps or drawings from surveyor/assessor's office or title companiesResearch and investigate to identify any restrictions limiting the use of propertyConduct title examinationsPrepare reports for title commitment, title insurance and real estate transfersSearch physical and digital records of title insurance and rest estate companies to gather information on private transactionsSearch physical and digital records of town, city and/or county offices to compile a transaction history and ownership details on an assigned propertyPerforms other duties as assigned by the Office Administrator and/or the assigned attorneysRequirementsOne to three years or more years of experience as a paralegal in a law firm or legal department and an Associate's degree, or the equivalent combination of education and experience; Bachelor's degree preferred.Experience supporting one or more of the following practice group(s) preferred:TransactionalReal EstateExperience using a legal time and billing systemProactive and self-motivated with demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervisionHighly organized with strong attention to detailAbility to work in a fast-paced environment as necessaryAbility to think critically, solve problems effectively, and exercise sound judgmentAbility to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, set priorities, and accommodate rush requestsMust be a team player, willing to help other team members during peak timesSuperior computer skills, using Microsoft Office SuiteExcellent oral and written communication skillsParker Poe is an Equal Opportunity Employer and makes recruitment, employment, promotional and all other personnel decisions without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, age, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, marital status, disability, veteran status or any other characteristic protected by law.
