Regional Organizing Director

Overview

There are over 80 colleges and universities in Michigan, with nearly half a million students. Founded in 2024, For Michigan organizes students across the state to turn out in critical statewide elections. In 2024, our organizing broke campus turnout records, with more votes cast in campus precincts than in 2020, 2016, or 2012. In 2025, we scaled our program across 10 core campuses, and in 2026 we are going even bigger: investing in full-time organizers, paid student fellows, and student-driven digital content to mobilize voters for the midterms.

Regional Organizing Directors (RODs) are the engine that makes this work possible. RODs will lead teams of campus organizers across multiple schools, ensuring strong management, coaching, and accountability while building the student power needed to win.

What Will You Do?

RODs will manage campus organizers located on key campuses across Michigan. This role begins in July 2026, with RODs expected to be located within their assigned region by their start date.

Responsibilities include:

• Coach, train, and manage a team of organizers across your region to reach weekly volunteer recruitment and voter contact goals, with a focus on face-to-face organizing
• Develop creative, campus-specific strategies and systems to effectively reach students and lead your team to successfully engage young voters and hit organizing metrics
• Roll out statewide priorities and adapt them to your region, sharing learnings and feedback up the chain to strengthen the statewide program
• Implement clear data and reporting procedures, maintain strong data integrity, and ensure organizers are meeting standards in VAN and other systems
• Motivate organizers to excel in a fast-paced campaign environment by facilitating daily check-ins, 1:1 meetings, weekly trainings, and regional team meetings
• Collaborate closely with other RODs, HQ staff, and departments including Operations, Digital, and Data to keep the program moving in sync
• All other duties as assigned

Who Are You?

As a successful candidate for this job, you will: 

• Have at least two cycles of campaign experience and experience in a management role, experience in campus organizing is a plus
• Have a passion for progressive politics and inspiring young people to get involved
• Be excited to think outside the box and to ideate and innovate to find the most exciting and effective GOTV tactics 
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, and the ability to communicate priorities in both 1:1 and group settings; especially as applied to building a strong, inclusive management culture that is solutions-oriented and positive for all staff members.
• Experience with VAN
• Ability to effectively communicate with key stakeholders across our organization and partner organizations
• Be scrappy and flexible; able to manage several tasks simultaneously and work long irregular hours; including weekends
• Be a self-starter, exceptionally well-organized, and have strong time management skills
• Be able to work weekends and irregular hours as required
• Be located near or be willing to relocate to one of our focus campuses and work in person across your assigned region on a daily and weekly basis. 
• Remaining in a stationary position while driving or riding in a vehicle for travel purposes

Job Details: The compensation for this role ranges from $6,000/month commensurate with experience and includes a generous benefits package. This position is full time, at-will, and terminable at any time without or without cause. This position is in person based in Michigan.
