Heavy Equipment Maintenance MechanicWe are seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Maintenance Mechanic to maintain and repair mobile heavy equipment and plant machinery. This is a hands-on position requiring strong mechanical troubleshooting skills and experience using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and precision measuring instruments.Job ResponsibilitiesPerform preventive maintenance on heavy equipment, including oil and filter changesInspect, troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair mobile equipment breakdownsMaintain records of preventive maintenance and major equipment rebuildsSchedule and assist with major equipment repairs and rebuildsRepair or replace defective mechanical components using hand and power toolsDismantle equipment to access and remove damaged or defective partsUse hoists, cranes, hand tools, and power tools during equipment repairsInspect parts for wear, damage, and other defectsUse measuring instruments to inspect parts and determine dimensional changesAdjust mechanical components and control devices as neededInstall specialty functional and structural componentsLubricate and clean equipment and mechanical partsTest repaired equipment to ensure proper operationMaintain appropriate oil, fuel, antifreeze, parts, and accessory suppliesMaintain a clean and organized maintenance work areaPerform welding, cutting/burning, rigging, and related maintenance dutiesAssist with additional maintenance duties as assignedQualifications* Previous experience as a heavy equipment, diesel, industrial, or mobile equipment mechanic * Strong mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills * Experience with hand tools, power tools, hoists, and related maintenance equipment * Ability to diagnose equipment problems based on operation, sound, and inspection * Welding and cutting/burning experience preferred * Knowledge of crane hand signals and proper rigging procedures * Ability to safely work around heavy machinery and active plant operations * Strong attention to safety and preventive maintenancePhysical Requirements* Ability to regularly lift and carry up to 75 lbs. * Ability to climb ladders and access heavy equipment * Ability to walk, bend, reach, twist, and perform physically demanding mechanical work * Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions * Must be comfortable working around noise, dust, fuel fumes, welding gases, and active equipment * Some work on plant machinery may require working at heights of up to 70 feetToolsMechanics are expected to provide the standard tools necessary to remove and install mobile equipment parts and accessories.
