LEAD AI ENGINEER

Svitla Systems Inc. is looking for a Lead AI Engineer for a full-time remote position (40 hours per week) in the USA. Our client is a designs and develops digital experiences for startups and enterprise clients by combining cutting-edge technologies and innovative methods to create exceptional user experiences, leveraging Generative AI to enhance daily business operations. Requirements: 7+ years of production experience in the development of software across front‐end and back‐end; history of shipping complex systems. 2+ years of experience in building with GenAI in real products. Understanding of data layers (Postgres/SQL, caches, vector stores). Expertise in LLM‐assisted development, including materially increased velocity and quality using tools like Cursor, Claude Code, Windsurf, Copilot (or equivalents). Understanding of design prompts, breaking down problems, enforcing tests, and reviewing AI output safely. Solid grasp of security and compliance (AuthN/Z, RBAC/ABAC, audit, data residency, secrets, PII handling). Familiarity with cloud and DevOps (Vercel/AWS/GCP/Azure), CI/CD, IaC (Terraform/Pulumi), and monitoring/observability. Proven experience guiding senior engineers, establishing patterns, and raising the bar; strong client‐facing communication. Excellent communication skills with the ability to set expectations, navigate ambiguity, and lead teams through challenges. Curiosity, proactive learning, and ownership. Nice to have: Domain experience in retail, hospitality, logistics, healthcare/pharma, or financial services. Responsibilities: Design and build the core architecture for an enterprise workflow automation platform. Make critical technical decisions about stack, architecture patterns, and implementation independently. Create robust APIs, integrations, and workflow engines adaptable to diverse enterprise needs. Deploy virtually or on-site into customer organizations across the US. Conduct discovery sessions to understand workflows and requirements. Rapidly prototype and build custom solutions tailored to each enterprise. Iteratively integrate AI capabilities to enhance automation and drive value. Act as the technical face of the company during customer engagements Work autonomously with minimal oversight from the CEO and leadership. Make architectural decisions and push back constructively when needed. Move fast, ship quickly, and iterate. Success comes through iteration, not upfront planning.
