X-Ray Technologist - Per Diem - Crystal Run Healthcare

Optum NY/NJ is seeking a X‑Ray Technologist (X‑Ray Technologist I) to join our team in Middletown, NY. This role is part of Optum Care Delivery and provides diagnostic imaging services in a patient‑centered environment. The X‑Ray Technologist is responsible for performing primary diagnostic examinations to determine the optimal patient care plan. The technologist creates a tranquil environment, gathers patient history, runs radiographic procedures, and ensures patient safety and image quality. Primary Responsibilities Identify anatomical orientation on all required images and assure proper file identification on all images. Demonstrate competency performing all radiographic procedures and operating all related equipment. Greet patients, obtain history, and enter information into the computer system. Perform x‑rays at optimal quality. Protect patients from excessive radiation and perform necessary patient care. Observe patient vital signs during examination. Provide coverage as needed (e.g., in the event of call‑outs or extended patient schedules). Provide instruction/mentoring to new hires. Maintain CPR certification. Perform procedures in compliance with Standards of Care, facility and regulatory requirements, and ARRT Standards of Ethics. Maintain quality standards as it relates to HIPAA regulations. Deliver a positive patient experience by sharing information and ensuring follow‑up steps are understood. Maintain a positive experience for referring providers and deliver excellent quality. Consistently submit images of diagnostic quality without the need for additional image acquisition; perform quality assurance on images and equipment; demonstrate competency in utilizing systems. Make authoritativen and wise decisions after adequately contemplating available courses of action. Contribute to efficient out‑patient operations, maximizing the productivity of the assigned modality. Utilize sterile techniques to prevent contamination. Review each examination for technical accuracy, present completed examinations to the radiologist, and communicate pertinent data to persons responsible for patient care. Demonstrate teamwork and contribute to a collaborative work environment. Meet or exceed deadlines, demonstrate accountability, flexibility, and adaptability. Enhance professional growth and maintain certifications, registration, and active CME through educational programs, conferences, and workshops. Maintain the cleanliness of examination rooms. Must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds. Requires vision correctable to 20/20 to operate equipment and review developed films. Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. ARRT certified and NY state license in radiologic technology. Demonstrated ability to use, or learn to use, the department’s computerized system and associated devices. Preferred Qualifications Associate degree or bachelor’s degree in radiography, radiation therapy, or nuclear medicine. 1+ years of experience as a general radiologic technologist. Demonstrated ability to follow oral and written instructions. Demonstrated ability to communicate with patients, visitors, and employees within the organization. Pay ranges from $24.00 to $43.00 per hour for full‑time employment, based on local labor markets, education, work experience, and certifications.
