Job Summary Optum NY/NJ is seeking a Maternal-Fetal Medicine (MFM) Ultrasound Technician to join our team in Middletown, NY as part of the Optum Care Delivery team. Primary Responsibilities Identify anatomical orientation on all required images and ensure proper file identification. Demonstrate competency performing all diagnostic ultrasound procedures and operation of all related equipment. Greet patients, obtain history, and enter information in the computer system. Scan according to guidelines. Maintain logs and process paperwork for biopsies. Utilize sterile techniques to prevent contamination. Maintain quality standards related to HIPAA regulations. Assume responsibility for all clinical aspects of the ultrasonography suite, keeping examination rooms clean and stocking necessary supplies. Assist in the completion of the American College of Radiology (ACR) accreditation process every three years. Observe patient vital signs during examination. Provide coverage as needed (e.g., in the event of call-outs or extended patient schedules). Provide instruction and mentoring to new hires. Ensure a positive patient experience by sharing information about the procedure and follow‑up steps. Maintain communication with radiologists, other physicians, patients, families, and staff. Consistently submit images of diagnostic quality, perform quality assurance on images and equipment, and demonstrate competency in utilizing systems. Review each examination for technical accuracy, present completed examinations to the radiologist, and communicate pertinent data to those responsible for patient care following the procedure. Demonstrate teamwork and interact in a positive manner with employees to foster a collaborative work environment. Meet or exceed deadlines, following through and demonstrating accountability, flexibility, and adaptability. Enhance professional growth by maintaining certifications, registration, and active CME through education programs, conferences, and workshops. Acquire patients’ chart data/requisition and review to determine correct room set‑up and verify that the ordered study aligns with diagnostic needs. Educate patients regarding the procedure, equipment, and exam to ensure understanding and safety. Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of an accredited course in ultrasonography. ARDMS (American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography) certification. Preferred Qualifications Associate degree or Baccalaureate degree in radiography or sonography. MFM (Maternal-Fetal Medicine) Technologist certification. 2+ years of experience in ultrasonography. Proven ability to follow oral and written instructions. Proven ability to communicate with patients, visitors, and employees within the organization. Proven ability to adequately use, or quickly learn, the department’s computerized system and its associated devices. Physical Demands Standing and walking for extended periods of time. Ability to lift and carry items up to 50 pounds. Ability to assist patients weighing 300 pounds or more and place them in appropriate positions for equipment operation. Eyesight correctable to 20/20 to operate equipment and review images. Benefits & Compensation Hourly pay range: $29.00 – $52.00 per hour based on full‑time employment.
