SUMMARY :

Reporting to the Director, University Galleries, the Engagement andOutreach Manager is responsible for implementing Galleriesinitiatives for engagement, programs, partnerships, and outreachacross the University community and with the community at large.The Engagement and Outreach Manager fosters partnerships with theGalleries to support the institution's commitment to being diverse,inclusive, equitable, and accessible. Provides comprehensiveexhibition programming support in collaboration with the Director,curators, artists, and University stakeholders throughout allphases of planning, installation, and presentation.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

Provides oversight of front-of-house and exhibition operations,establishing procedures, performance standards, and workflowsystems that support efficient daily operations and successfulexhibition delivery. Plans and manages education and public programs aligned withexhibition schedules, including project timelines, sharedcalendars, installation schedules, space use, staffing plans,run-of-show documentation, and coordination of technology andfacilities needs. Oversees all University Galleries student employees, includingrecruitment, hiring, training, scheduling, supervision, andperformance management in accordance with University guidelines;establishes staffing plans and front-of-house procedures to ensureconsistent visitor services. Administers exhibition and program agreements in coordinationwith University Counsel, including artist, collaboration, license,and vendor contracts; maintains centralized administrative records,exhibition calendars, and documentation systems for planning andinstitutional recordkeeping. Manages financial administration for exhibitions and programs,including budget tracking, expenditure monitoring, invoiceprocessing, vendor relations, and payments to artists and serviceproviders; supports cost-sharing and reimbursementdocumentation. Coordinates logistics for visiting artists, lenders, andcollaborators, including travel, itineraries, hospitality, andscheduling aligned with exhibition timelines; supports installationand deinstallation planning and related documentation. Collaborates with the Director, guest curators, and artists onpublic-facing digital and interpretive initiatives, includingBloomberg Connects content. Manages and develops tour programs, including training andsupervision of student educators. Serves as liaison with staff, faculty, students, communitypartners, and the public; develops interdisciplinary partnershipsand collaborates across University units to promote and advanceeducational and public programs. Works with University staff on marketing and communicationsstrategies for programs and exhibitions, including the developmentof print and digital materials; advances the integration oftechnology and virtual engagement tools. Assesses barriers to participation and advances accessibilityinitiatives, including touch collections, visual imaging tours,ASL-interpreted tours, audio description, captioning, and languagetranslation. Compiles and analyzes demographic data and programoutcomes. Performs other duties as assigned. Management retains the right to add or change job duties at anytime.

QUALIFICATIONS :

REQUIRED:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university inart history, education, museum studies, or a relateddiscipline. A minimum of three years of relevant experience working in amuseum or gallery setting. Experience planning, developing, and implementing programs in amuseum setting or comparable organization. Excellent public speaking, writing, and editing skills. Strong organizational, planning, and management skills. Ability to take part in programs outside of normal officehours, travel, work evenings, and/or weekends as necessary in theperformance of assigned responsibilities. Ability to work effectively in a changing environment,including changing work demands, procedures, technology, orpriorities.

PREFERRED:

Master’s degree from an accredited institution in art history,education, museum studies, or a related discipline. Experience planning, developing, and implementing educationprograms in an art museum. Previous experience in a college/university museum. Past experience teaching in higher education. Experience working with underserved groups and with thedevelopment of tours and programs, including those for visitorswith special needs. Proficiency in current social media platforms, as well asaudience evaluation and implementation of visitor surveys.
