Patient Registration Specialist - Sign On Bonus!

Pay Range $25.00 - $31.88 per hour ✦ $1,000 Sign On Bonus at start and $1,000 Bonus after 12 months for a qualified hire. Responsibilities The Patient Registration Specialist directly engages patients during the registration process and performs essential administrative duties to ensure smooth service delivery. Manage scheduling resources for patient appointments. Handle communication tools for patient scheduling requests by patients and care teams. Review pre-registration for insurance verification and upcoming appointments. Collect payments for services, flat rate services, co-pay or up‑front collections. Gather required documentation and scan registration documents into the electronic health record. Assign insurance tiering for proper payor assignment. Validate insurance eligibility and pre‑authorization requirements. Communicate with peers, patients, and care teams through multiple channels for appointment requests and patient‑initiated outreach. Create new patient profiles in the electronic health record with accurate demographic information and proper identification. Manage multiple worklists, including the New Patient Registration Worklist and the scheduling/registration of various disciplines. Coordinate patient sign‑ups in the MySEARHC patient portal. Enact SEARHC’s 7 Standard of Service Excellence and provide exceptional customer service. Collaborate with peers, patients, and leadership, and participate in departmental improvement efforts. Maintain a clean and safe working environment and comply with annual competencies. Identify community resources and foster partnerships. Refer uninsured patients or those with insurance questions to a Financial Counselor for resolution. Refer patients to the Patient Health Benefits team for screening/enrollment in qualified insurance resources. Qualifications High School Diploma preferred; advanced degree preferred. Basic Life Support preferred. Minimum 1 year of experience in healthcare, behavioral health, dental, customer service, or a relevant administrative/office setting. Internal candidates with at least 1 year of experience as a Patient Registration Specialist Trainee or similar role at SEARHC will also be considered. Knowledge of available services at SEARHC, other tribal health organizations in Alaska, and community resources. Customer service principles and general knowledge of front‑end revenue cycle requirements. Strong attention to detail and quality data input skills. Proficiency in computer and EHR system use. Oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills. De‑stabilization and critical thinking skills. Ability to prioritize work and multi‑task in a fast‑paced office setting. Self‑starter with willingness to learn. Read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Time‑management, organizational, and customer service skills. Flexibility for working hours with limited unplanned absence and ability to work independently. Strong organizational and time management abilities. Teamwork skills and proficiency in EHR systems.
