Property Accounting Specialist / Property Accountant (Temporary/Possibly Temp to hire)

Location: Hybrid (2 days onsite per week - Tuesday & Thursday)

Pay Rate: $38.00 - $50.00 per hour, depending on experience

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Property Accounting Specialist / Property Accountant to support our accounting team on a temporary basis. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with full-cycle accounts payable , property accounting processes, and financial reporting. Experience with Yardi is highly preferred, and candidates with commercial or residential property management accounting backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

This is a hybrid role requiring onsite presence two days per week (Tuesday and Thursday).

Responsibilities

• Process and manage full-cycle accounts payable for multiple properties
• Review, code, and enter vendor invoices accurately and timely
• Prepare and process check runs, ACH payments, and wire transfers
• Reconcile vendor statements and resolve invoice discrepancies
• Assist with month-end and year-end close activities
• Prepare and maintain property-level financial records and reconciliations
• Reconcile bank accounts and balance sheet accounts
• Support accruals, journal entries, and general ledger maintenance
• Work closely with property managers and vendors to address accounting-related issues
• Ensure compliance with company policies and internal controls
• Assist with audits and special accounting projects as needed

Qualifications

• 3+ years of accounting experience, preferably within property management, real estate, or commercial/residential property accounting
• Strong experience with full-cycle accounts payable
• Experience with property accounting strongly preferred
• Yardi experience highly preferred
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including functions such as VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables, and reconciliations
• Strong understanding of general accounting principles and financial reporting
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Strong verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting multiple properties or portfolios
• Commercial real estate or multifamily property accounting experience
• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

Schedule

• Hybrid schedule
• Onsite: Tuesdays and Thursdays
• Remote: Remaining workdays

Compensation

• $38.00 - $50.00 per hour
• Temporary assignment with potential for extension based on business needs
