essential job duties:

• provides approved assistance to anesthesiologists / crnas during the induction, maintenance and emergence from anesthesia.
• assists the anesthesiologists/ crnas with the placement of regional anesthetics and invasive monitoring devices.
• maintains on a daily and case to case basis, the equipment and supplies necessary to provide quality and cost effective anesthesia care to all patients cared for by the anesthesia department.
• applies principles of infection control and safety, including proper handling, cleaning, sterilizing and/or disposal of equipment or supplies used in regular and contaminated cases.
• sets up sterile equipment, such as intravenous, central venous, arterial and pulmonary artery catheters using sterile technique.
• sets up, operates, and disassembles cell saver equipment and rapid infuser devices as assigned.
• performs all standard procedural checks on equipment; reports any malfunctioning equipment to supervisor.
• ensures the sterility and cleanliness of specialized equipment, including tee's, fiber optic scopes and lmas.
• ensures workroom areas are clean and orderly before, during and after each shift.
• performs other job related duties as assigned.

this is a full-time overnight position working monday through friday 10pm-6am. this position is located at nyp/brooklyn methodist hospital. preferred criteria

• two to three years' experience, as an anesthesia technician
• certification by the american society of anesthesia technologists and technicians (asatt)

required criteria

• high school diploma or ged
• minimum one year of experience as an anesthesia technician
• basic cardiac life support (bcls) certification

salary range:

$36.52-$39.01/hourly
