Fund Accountant

We are seeking an experienced Fund Accountant with 7+ years of investment fund accounting experience to oversee the accounting, financial reporting, and operational support for a portfolio of private equity, hedge, venture capital, real estate, or other investment funds. The ideal candidate possesses strong technical accounting knowledge, exceptional analytical skills, and experience working with fund administrators, auditors, and investment management teams. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate NAV calculations, financial reporting, partnership accounting, investor reporting, and compliance with U.S. GAAP, IFRS, and regulatory requirements. Key Responsibilities Fund Accounting & Financial Reporting Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual fund financial statements. Perform NAV calculations and ensure accurate valuation of investment portfolios. Maintain the general ledger and oversee all fund accounting activities. Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules. Analyze financial results and investigate significant variances. Ensure timely and accurate month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes. Investment Accounting Record investment purchases, sales, maturities, income, and corporate actions. Account for complex investment transactions, including derivatives, private investments, and alternative assets. Monitor investment activity and reconcile holdings with custodians and administrators. Calculate realized and unrealized gains and losses. Partnership & Investor Accounting Prepare capital call and distribution calculations. Maintain investor capital accounts. Process subscriptions, redemptions, transfers, and investor allocations. Prepare investor statements and capital account reporting. Calculate management fees, carried interest, incentive allocations, and performance fees. Reconciliations & Controls Perform daily, monthly, and quarterly reconciliations of: Cash Investments Custodian accounts Broker statements Bank accounts Capital activity Ensure internal controls are followed and documented. Identify process improvement opportunities to enhance efficiency and accuracy. Compliance & Audit Support Support annual audits and coordinate with external auditors. Prepare audit schedules and supporting documentation. Ensure compliance with partnership agreements, investment guidelines, and accounting standards. Assist with regulatory reporting and tax reporting requirements. Operational Support Coordinate with fund administrators, custodians, legal counsel, and tax advisors. Review work completed by third-party administrators. Support onboarding of new funds and investment structures. Participate in fund launches, liquidations, and restructuring activities. Process Improvement Recommend automation and process enhancements. Assist in system implementations and accounting software upgrades. Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures. Mentor junior fund accountants and provide technical guidance. Qualifications Bachelor\'s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA, CFA, or MBA preferred. Minimum 7 years of fund accounting experience in asset management, investment management, private equity, hedge funds, venture capital, real estate funds, or fund administration. Strong understanding of partnership accounting and investment accounting. Experience with complex investment structures and alternative investments. Knowledge of U.S. GAAP; IFRS knowledge is a plus.
