At DGS, we are one team, working together to develop mission solutions – anywhere, anytime.The Painter is responsible for preparing surfaces and applying primers, sealers, paints, and other protective and decorative finishes to manufactured products and construction supply. The Painter reads manufacturing and construction drawings and project specifications to select appropriate undercoats and topcoats (when not specified by the customer) and to phase and plan the painting work. The Painter ensures all coatings are applied accurately and consistently to meet quality standards, project specifications, and production schedules.Duties and Responsibilities / Essential FunctionsPrepare surfaces for paint by cleaning, scraping, sanding, patching, caulking, and masking to enable proper adhesion and high-quality finishes.Apply undercoats and topcoats to interior and exterior surfaces of manufactured products and construction supply.Inspect finished surfaces and perform touchups or other corrective actions as needed to ensure quality standards are met.Perform post job cleanup of work areas, tools, equipment, and materials.Store paints, coatings, chemicals, and related supplies in designated locations following company procedures and industry safety standards.Maintain inventory levels of paints, coatings, and related supplies.Comply with OSHA regulations and company safety policies regarding the handling, use, storage, and disposal of paints, coatings, chemicals, and other hazardous materials.Assist with other day-to-day production activities in other trade areas.Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Skills and SpecificationsAbility to use tools of the trade, including spray guns, sanders, brushes, rollers, and paint mixers.Demonstrable talent and efficiency in industrial painting.Excellent attention to detail in planning and finishing painting tasks.Thorough knowledge of industry safety procedures.Ability to follow direction, collaborate effectively, and contribute to team objectives.Excellent oral communication skills.Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving ability.Ability to manage time effectively.Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365.Supervisory ResponsibilityThis position does not require the supervision of direct reports.Work EnvironmentThis position operates in professional office, workshop, production facility, and field environments which include working near moving mechanical parts, non-weather wet or humid conditions, and extreme cold and heat, using tools of the trade and other equipment.Physical DemandsWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to twist, turn, bend, lift, kneel, climb, and stand. Occasional lifting up to 75 lbs. may occur.Position Type / Expected Hours of WorkThis is a full-time, on-site, hourly position. Standard days and hours are 40 hours per week, with weekends and extended hours as needed.
