A day in the life

You arrive to a clearly posted production schedule and pick up the required materials from the lead. From there, you prepare the packaging line so it consistently turns out accurate, high‑quality products.

Core responsibilities

• Capper setup and operation: Load caps into the capping machine hopper, start the line, watch performance closely, and make small adjustments to dial in speed and cap tightness. If something’s not right, stop the machine and alert the lead or supervisor.
• Labeling systems: Mount label rolls on the labeling machine and align for precise placement on bottles. Configure the Domino printer with the correct lot number, manufacturing code date, and expiration code date. Print two sample labels and obtain lead approval before running. Operate manual labeling equipment when needed.
• Shrink‑wrap application: Load shrink‑wrap film, set conveyor speed, define sleeve length and placement on the bottle, and monitor the operation. Adjust heat seal tunnel temperature as conditions require.
• Ingredient and material flow: Load and unload raw materials, assemble cartons and boxes using a tape gun and/or plastic bags, and keep the work area clean and organized.
• Product finishing: Inspect Flo‑coated products for correct descriptions. Unload product into clean containers (grind and/or sift if needed), weigh and seal product, add silica bags between plastic bags if required, verify weight, and box properly. Palletize finished goods and label each outer container with code number, product name, and weight.
• Equipment care: Clean unloading and grinding machines. Clean and sanitize all food‑contact surfaces and equipment; ensure utensils are fully cleaned after use.
• Quality, safety, and compliance: Follow company GMPs and safety rules. Help strengthen the safety culture by identifying, reporting, and correcting unsafe conditions.
• Technical ownership: Set up, operate, adjust, troubleshoot, diagnose, and perform basic maintenance on production equipment. Verify inventory accuracy by scanning materials whenever they move.
• Performance tracking: Run equipment to hit production goals using HR x HR tracking. Report downtime and process interrupters as they occur and promptly notify the Production Lead/Supervisor of any safety, quality, or downtime issues.
• Documentation: Follow departmental procedures, contribute to procedure improvements, maintain production logs, and complete production and quality checks as required.

Teamwork and flexibility

Communicate production information to fellow machine operators and packers. Be ready to support other production departments as needed and perform all other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
