Job Title: Grinder / Polisher – Stainless Steel Finishing

Job Description

This role focuses on polishing, buffing, and finishing stainless steel components in a high-volume manufacturing environment to meet strict quality and appearance standards. You will use a variety of hand and power tools, follow detailed work instructions, and maintain a clean, safe work area while producing consistent, high-quality results.

Responsibilities

• Polish, buff, and finish stainless steel components and products to meet quality and appearance specifications.

• Operate polishing equipment, grinders, sanders, and other finishing tools safely and efficiently.

• Inspect parts for scratches, blemishes, dents, burrs, and other surface imperfections, and correct them as needed.

• Remove excess material, burrs, and defects from manufactured parts to achieve required finish and dimensions.

• Read and follow work instructions, blueprints, specifications, and safety procedures accurately.

• Adhere to production schedules and quality standards to ensure on-time, compliant output.

• Use hand tools and power tools for grinding, sanding, deburring, and metal finishing tasks.

• Perform basic assembly and fabrication steps related to metal finishing when required.

• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with facility guidelines.

• Collaborate with team members and production staff to support efficient workflow and continuous improvement.

• Follow all safety rules, including proper use of personal protective equipment, and report any hazards or equipment issues promptly.

Essential Skills

• Previous experience in manufacturing, polishing, metal finishing, grinding, or general production is preferred.

• Hands-on experience using hand tools and power tools such as grinders, sanders, and polishing equipment.

• Ability to work with stainless steel and other metal products in a production environment.

• Strong attention to detail with a focus on surface quality and overall product appearance.

• Ability to read and follow work instructions, specifications, and basic blueprints.

• Capability to stand, bend, and perform repetitive tasks for the duration of the shift.

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as needed throughout the workday.

• Comfort working in a large industrial facility with other production employees.

• Reliability and consistency in meeting production goals and quality standards.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with metal fabrication and general labor in a manufacturing setting.

• Experience with deburring, buffing, sanding, and metal finishing processes.

• Familiarity with general production workflows and assembly operations.

• Ability to use a variety of hand and power tools safely and effectively.

• Willingness to learn and adapt to new finishing techniques and production requirements.

Work Environment

This is a full-time, first-shift role, working Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., typically 40–45 hours per week with some weekend work as needed. The position is based in a large industrial manufacturing facility that is notably clean for a production plant, with approximately 100 people working on the production floor. You work alongside a growing team, with the goal of expanding to more than 30 team members in the near future. The dress code is casual, with jeans and a T-shirt acceptable, and you must wear safety glasses and steel-toe boots at all times on the production floor. The environment emphasizes safety, organization, and teamwork, and you regularly use grinders, sanders, polishing equipment, and other hand and power tools in your daily work.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Broadview, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.94 - $20.94/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
