Hourly: $17.50 - $17.50 Job Title: Manager in Training Department: Operations FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Reports To: Store Manager Summary The Manager in Training assists the Store Manager with overall operations and administrative duties. They are knowledgeable in each product area or department and help determine methods and approaches necessary to accomplish store goals and initiatives. They uphold policies, procedures, and standards, promote sales and promotions, and serve as an ambassador of Hibbett City Gear, creating a unique customer experience. They assume supervisory control in the Store Manager’s absence and are trained in the Store Manager’s responsibilities. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Assist the Store Manager in controlling the assets of Hibbett City Gear; consult in establishing action plans to accomplish departmental and overall store responsibilities such as selling, restocking, merchandising, ordering, and scheduling. Assume responsibility for the entire store in the absence of the Store Manager; provide knowledge and guidance to employees and customers in all departments when necessary. Monitor inventory, sales statistics, and expenses to ensure profitability across all departments. Direct staff to ensure each department’s responsibilities and standards are completed. Keep the Store Manager informed about inventory movement and customer trends; assure quality customer service is maintained. Perform general administrative duties as needed and be trained in the Store Manager’s responsibilities. Serve customers according to the customer service manual, including helping customers when they enter the store and during peak periods. Promote and sell services and merchandise provided by Hibbett City Gear. Practice and uphold all company policies, procedures, and standards outlined in the operations policy manual, personnel policy manual, visual manual, customer service manual, and memos. Protect company assets and financial information by ensuring accuracy of internal control procedures and reporting potential fraud risk. Supervise employees in the absence of the Store Manager, including interviewing, training, planning, assigning, directing work, and resolving problems. Qualifications Experience working in a retail environment, preferably in footwear and athletic apparel. 1-3 years of customer service experience. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment. Ability to assist in managing a team while keeping up with overall goals and profits. Self‑starter with initiative for taking on important tasks without being asked. Strong attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and with precision.
