Senior Project Manager, Transmission (Hybrid Schedule)

Senior Project Manager, Transmission - Hartford, CT Your role involves independently managing high-risk, high-profile transmission projects in Massachusetts to ensure all phases are completed efficiently, within scope, on schedule, and within budget. You will collaborate closely with Transmission Asset Management, Transmission Planning, Design, Land Planning, Construction, Finance, Regulatory Relations, Legal, and Purchasing. Additional context: this role supports the Major Project Underground Cable Modernization Program. Essential Functions Manage projects that require stakeholder interaction such as substation construction, new line, major facility expansion, or medium/high complexity projects. Projects are overseen by the Manager of Transmission Projects or Manager‑Construction and Maintenance Transmission. Projects are multidisciplinary, involve multiple stakeholders, and carry medium to high financial risk. Ensure projects are completed efficiently, on time, and within budget. Collaborate with Energy Delivery, Legal, Regulatory Relations, Purchasing, Communications, and other Transmission functions for project success. Integrate and manage cross‑functional project teams, developing roles and responsibilities. Plan, engineer, site, procure, construct, commission, and close out projects. Develop comprehensive project plans, schedules, communications plans, and change‑control methodology. Execute project plan and manage change‑control process. Develop detailed budgets and cash‑flow projections. Provide monthly reporting on scope, budgets, and schedules. Develop siting and permitting assessment. Handle regulatory siting, permit filings, and other regulatory submissions. Coordinate environmental assessment and required approvals (federal, state, local). Ensure timely ISO‑NE submittals. Develop and evaluate bid documents for engineering, design, construction, tests, and support systems. Prepare outage and energization plans. Produce long‑term outage plan submittals. Close projects in a timely manner to support corporate goals. Provide clear, concise reports to management. Show strong independent project management from initiation to closeout. Guide less experienced project managers. Lead group initiatives and process development. Prepare corporate testimony and regulatory presentations. Technical Knowledge / Skill / Education / Licenses / Certifications Problem investigation and resolution, data analysis, report writing, and presentation skills. Time management, deadline compliance, role definition, and decision‑making ability. Meeting facilitation, motivation, and organization at all levels. Schedule, plan, and manage multiple complex transmission projects concurrently. Strong communication skills in listening, speaking, and writing. Preparation of presentations and expert testimony for regulatory presentations. Education Bachelor’s degree in engineering (preferred) or finance, business, or equivalent. Master’s degree preferred; project‑management coursework desirable. Experience Ten (10) years of related experience, including at least three (3) years of project‑management experience. Construction of transmission lines highly desirable. Licenses & Certifications Valid motor‑vehicle operator’s license required. Working Conditions Available for emergency restoration assignments. Required to travel between MA, CT, and NH. Primarily office work with occasional movement throughout the office. Limited travel between office, project sites, and stakeholder locations. Site visits to field construction, substations, and rights‑of‑way. Availability for off‑hour and extended duties, including storm/incident response. Competencies Build trusting relationships.
