Lead Child Care Teacher

Overview Designs, implements, and reviews age-appropriate curriculum, manages classroom activities and interactions, supervises assistant teachers, students and volunteers while maintaining a safe and healthy environment. Essential Functions Develops age-appropriate lesson plans and activities for young children. Monitors and supervises children to ensure their safety and well‑being. Communicates effectively with parents regarding children’s progress and behavior. Implements positive discipline techniques to encourage good behavior. Observes and assesses children’s development and growth. Collaborates with other teachers and staff to create a nurturing learning environment. Education & Certification High School Diploma or equivalent, required. Associate's Degree in Child Development or Early Childhood Education, preferred. Active Child Development Associate (CDA) certification within one year of hire, preferred. 24 annual hours of Ohio‑Approved Professional Development tracked by department, unless Associate's Degree or CDA certification is maintained, required. Skills Effective communication skills to interact with children, families, and other professionals. Ability to supervise and direct Assistant Teachers and students. Flexibility and ability to handle multiple tasks and change priorities. Ability to create a positive atmosphere in the classroom. Experience Experience in an early childhood education program, preferred. Physical Requirements Occasionally: Chemicals/Medications, Lifting/Carrying 0‑10 lbs, 11‑20 lbs, 21‑40 lbs, Pushing/Pulling 0‑25 lbs, 26‑40 lbs, Sitting, Working Outdoors. Frequently: Blood and/or Bodily Fluids, Climbing stairs/ladder, Communicable Diseases and/or Pathogens, Computer skills, Flexing/extending of neck, Hand use: grasping, gripping, turning, Loud Noises, Reaching above shoulder, Repetitive hand/arm use, Walking. Continuously: Audible speech, Bend/twist, Color vision, Decision Making, Depth perception, Hearing acuity, Peripheral vision, Problem solving, Seeing – Far/near, Squat/kneel, Standing. Additional Physical Requirements: Able to multi‑task within a fast‑paced environment. Ability to sit (on floor) in close proximity to children during play and activity periods. Constantly ability to lift a child into a crib and place them in it safely. Constantly ability to actively supervise children during gross motor play. Constantly ability to move rapidly in potentially unsafe physical situations (example: a child falling off the climber). Constantly ability to bend over quickly to pick up children by their torso, not by their arms.
