Respiratory Therapist

Hartford Healthcare is seeking a compassionate and skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team within our leading not-for-profit healthcare system. In this role, you will provide high-quality respiratory care to patients across a variety of clinical settings, including emergency, critical care, medical-surgical, and step-down units, supporting our mission to deliver exceptional, patient-centered care. Working collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team, you will assess, plan, and deliver respiratory treatments and therapies for patients with acute and chronic cardiopulmonary conditions. Responsibilities include performing comprehensive respiratory assessments, administering and monitoring oxygen therapy, aerosolized medications, and bronchial hygiene therapies, as well as managing ventilators and other advanced respiratory support equipment in accordance with physician orders and established protocols. You will interpret arterial blood gases and other diagnostic tests, adjust ventilator settings, and respond promptly to changes in patient status, codes, and respiratory emergencies. The role also involves educating patients and families on respiratory conditions, equipment use, and home-care strategies to promote optimal outcomes and reduce readmissions. As a Respiratory Therapist at Hartford Healthcare, you will be expected to maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record, adhere to infection prevention and safety standards, and participate in quality improvement initiatives and evidence-based practice.
