Continuous Improvement Manager

Overview Continuous Improvement Logistics Manager (Engineering) is responsible for promoting and facilitating continuous improvement methods across Ryder's operations. The role manages CI resources across multiple sites to drive data‑driven engineering and automation efforts that improve safety, quality, delivery, cost, and growth. This position reports to the CI Director or Sr. CI Manager and aligns with a Director of Operations. Responsibilities Supervise a team of continuous improvement engineering and quality professionals; participate in hiring, promotion, coaching, and performance management. Lead development and execution of strategy, scorecards, and KPI action plans; assess critical site and business needs and deliver timely CI plans to address top business needs. Provide training, coaching, and mentoring on Ryder Business System concepts; translate them to local situations and help teams apply tools for sustainable improvements. Develop advanced competency in engineering methods, data analysis, Lean tools, and quality standards; ensure use of methodologies to improve distribution and transportation operations. Facilitate Value Stream Maps and Kaizen events; identify process gaps and lead CI teams to implement improvements; track progress and value across accounts. Additional Responsibilities Manage design, implementation, monitoring, and maintenance of the Quality Management System (QMS) per standards. Implement and monitor a standardized corrective action system; support regulatory compliance and certifications. Oversee Quality Assurance for start-ups or expansions; conduct internal audits for regulatory compliance. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree required in Engineering, Business, or Supply Chain Management (Industrial Engineering or Supply Chain preferred); Master’s degree preferred. Nine (9)+ years in distribution, warehousing, manufacturing, transportation, or supply chain logistics. Strong skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Visio), data visualization (Power BI, Tableau), and SQL/DAX; experience with CAD, slotting, labor standards, and lean tools is preferred. Expertise in Leader Standard Work, Visual Management Systems, PDCA, Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen, 5S; strong understanding of core engineering and data analysis functions. Knowledge of warehouse design tools and warehouse management systems; familiarity with automation solutions and transportation design tools. Lean Six Sigma, PMP/ISO/QMS certifications are a plus; APICS or equivalent certification preferred. Travel 50%–75% travel to 4–5 customer locations (locations may vary).
