You may be contacted by phone by recruitment personnel based in either Canada or New York.Work Shift:Job Description:The Senior Commodity Specialist provides strategic/tactical leadership of given commodity(ies) and develops/implements commodity strategies aligned with the company's quality, delivery, cost and innovation goals.RESPONSIBILITIES:Develop and execute the procurement strategies for given commodity(ies)Develop, integrate and manage preferred suppliers to meet company requirementsNegotiate and implement Master Service Agreements (MSA’s)Develop and implement best-in-class processes and proceduresLead workshops, kaizens, and train associates on sourcing tools and processesProvide coaching, mentoring and support to commodity team membersChampion commodity team initiatives throughout GorbelAchieve excellent results in annual cost improvement, supplier quality/delivery, supplier lead times/minimum order quantities, supplier consolidation and contract coverage with minimal supervisionMust be able to inform, convince and persuade others to action on key commodity strategy initiatives/objectivesMust possess relevant technical commodity skills to be seen as credible by peers and managersDevelop new and/or support existing strategies based upon key market trends that affect material availability and pricingDrive improvements utilizing Lean tools and principlesManage new and existing suppliers through formal supplier assessments, providing regular supplier key performance indicator scorecard feedback, and corrective actions as neededIn collaboration with other functions, participate in make vs. buy decisions and provide recommendations to senior management for approvalSupport special projects related to product launches and other supply chain initiativesConduct root cause investigation in response to supplier material quality issues and ensure effective corrective actions and preventative actions (CAPA) are implemented in support of the Quality Management System.Develop and implement new tools to deliver commodity process efficienciesREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:Minimum of 5 years of Supply Chain/Operations experience in a manufacturing environmentHigh degree of business ethics and accountabilityLeadership and application of lean tools and principles to drive improvementsStrong business and financial acumenProficient in Microsoft Office Products (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.)Proficient with ERP systemsEffective in both written and verbal communicationsAble to travel up to 20% of the timePREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:APICS certification for CSCPAPICS certification for CPIMISM certification for CPSMBachelors degree or equivalent experienceWORK ENVIRONMENT:ADA Physical/Mental/Workplace RequirementsOccasional lifting up to 25 lbs.Sitting, working at desk/personal computer for extended periods of timePrimary work environment is professional corporateGorbel is an Equal Opportunity Employer that does not discriminate on the basis of actual or perceived race, creed, color, religion, alienage or national origin, ancestry, citizenship status, age, disability or handicap, gender, marital status, veteran status, sexual orientation, genetic information, arrest record, or any other characteristic protected by applicable federal, state or local laws.
