Engine Validation Senior Engineer

The Senior Engineer - Engine Validation is responsible for building and executing the engine validation plan for a major engine program. Responsibilities:Develop Engine DVP&R document for system level (engine dynamometer) testingMaintain build records of each engine and arrange disposition or storage as needed.Work with Engine Build team to arrange for the build and delivery Engine Assemblies to dyno cells for design verification (DV) testing and Mule level vehicle builds. Lead the Maintenance, Development, and Improvement of Test Procedures, Design Validation Plans, (“DV”) and Process Validation plans (“PV”) for Internal Combustion Engines.Lead development and execution of DV and PV tests based on performance requirements, core DVP, DFMEA, field issues/design issues and best practices.Provide technical expertise in investigation of validation issues, root cause analysis, mitigation, and corrective action plans.Review and publish test results to the greater team.Conduct tests, recreate failure modes identified during validation testing or warranty claims.Log Incident Reports for each issue to ensure engineering team drives issues to closure. Create issues in S2IRIUS system where appropriateReport out regularly to the Chief Engineer organization on the status and progress of testing. This reporting will continue weekly until the validation plan is completed and signed off by the Chief Engineer.As testing progresses, the Validation Engineer will update the Test Timing Plan and the DVP&R document to ensure they are kept current on at least a weekly basis.After testing, organize the post test analysis and teardown activity along with the project team to identify any issues or concerns.Review reports with the Chief Engineer and file them in PDS.Provide instructions for disposition, re-use or recycling of the test propertiesA final review must be completed when all validation activity is complete to ensure all records are properly collected and stored.Basic Qualifications:A minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, from an ABET accredited school or equivalent5 years minimum experience in Internal Combustion Engine component design, development and/or validationA minimum of 1 year of experience in engine validation or component or system validationUnderstanding of automotive processes such as DFMEA and DVP&RFamiliarity with automotive engine design, components, and testingStrong interpersonal communication, team/leadership skills/experienceCritical character traits to ensure success: Organized, Action Oriented, Dealing with Ambiguity, Customer Focus, Problem Solving.Preferred Qualifications:Advanced degree in with emphasis in engine development, control systems, or calibration.Understanding of CAN communicationWorking experience in creation and execution of validation plans for engines and engine components.7 years or more in design, development and / or validation of enginesExperience with engine teardowns and rebuildsBrand: FCA GroupJob ID: 2021097Employment Type: Full-timeJob Area: EngineeringPosted Date: 24/08/2026
