The laboratory of Dr. William K.M. Lai, inthe Department of Biochemistry at the Jacobs School of Medicineand Biomedical Sciences seeks a ResearchTechnician to perform experimental work under thedirection of the principal investigator and to support the researchof undergraduate and graduate students. The position is availablethis Fall and will include molecular biology, chromatin biology andhigh-throughput sequencing library construction. The successfulcandidate must have experience with basic molecular biology andbiochemistry techniques. Experience with next-generation sequencinglibrary preparation, mammalian cell culture, protein synthesis, orbasic data analysis is a plus. Duties include planning andperforming experiments as well as ordering and general labmaintenance, including maintaining strain, sample and sequencingdatabases. As an Equal Opportunity / Affine Minimum Qualifications Requires education in Biological Sciences or related topic, and atleast one year of experience directly related to molecular biology,chromatin biology and high-throughput sequencing libraryconstruction. Preferred Qualifications B.S. in Biological Science, Biochemistry, Biomedical Sciences orequivalent. Hands-on experience with next-generation sequencinglibrary preparation and/or basic scripting (Unix command line, R orPython). Physical Demands The position requires regular on-site work in a laboratory setting.The majority of the duties involve benchwork, with somecomputational work. Occasionally, may move or transport boxes andsupplies when orders arrive. Salary Range $36,000 - $46,000 Is a background check required for this posting?
