Contract | Days | 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM) | Every other weekend required (Saturday/Sunday)

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a 56-bed Adult Medical Specialty Unit managing acute general medicine diagnoses including cellulitis, sepsis, dehydration, electrolyte imbalance, syncope, anemia, uncontrolled diabetes, acute respiratory failure, liver failure, kidney failure, and behavioral health and addiction cases
• Maintain nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4–5 during day hours and 1:5–6 during night hours, with PCT support for vitals, accuchecks, bladder scans, and ADLs
• Manage and monitor central lines, tracheostomies, and chest tubes as part of routine patient care
• Administer and monitor set-rate drips including Heparin and Lasix; titration of drips is not required
• Support respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP for sleep apnea, inhaler administration, and suctioning; monitor telemetry via Philips monitors (house-wide remote monitoring available)
• Float as needed to other acute care general medicine areas including nephrology, neuro, ortho, and oncology

Required Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license (or confirmation that the application process has been initiated)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Must comply with a drug-free workplace policy; a negative drug screen for all panels is required
• Candidates with a permanent address within 50 miles of the facility may be subject to a local pay rate adjustment

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior travel nursing experience on a Med-Surg floor strongly preferred
• Experience with Epic EMR preferred
• Experience in a Level I Trauma Center may be considered in lieu of travel experience, provided Epic experience is present
• Familiarity with central lines, tracheostomies, and chest tubes in an acute care setting
