Senior Software Engineer – Bare Metal Infrastructure As a Senior Software Engineer, you will deliver complex code solutions, support build and deployment pipelines, diagnose production issues, and contribute to system design, architecture, security, reliability, performance, and end-to-end support. Once eligible, you will become an owner in the company, focusing on quality and customer service. What is the work? Design, build, and operate software that automates lifecycle management and monitoring of bare metal infrastructure, ensuring highly reliable, scalable, and secure private cloud resources. Key Responsibilities Design, build, and maintain high-quality software systems capable of managing thousands of bare metal servers across datacenters. Build and maintain services for hardware inventory, asset management, firmware upgrades, and OS deployment. Create automated hardware validation, diagnostics, remediation, and recovery solutions to improve resilience, availability, and efficiency. Drive observability initiatives for physical infrastructure (metrics, logging, tracing, alerting). Develop APIs, tools, and workflows that enable self‑service infrastructure operations. Develop testing frameworks and CI/CD pipelines to ensure software quality and deployment consistency. Lead projects from inception through deployment and operational ownership. Influence technical strategy for infrastructure automation and platform modernization through architectural reviews and design discussions. Promote engineering excellence through code reviews, documentation, knowledge sharing. Mentor engineers and provide technical guidance on architecture and best practices. Success Measures Reduce operational effort through reusable automation and self‑service capabilities that modernize bare metal operations, improving deployment speed, reliability, and consistency. Deliver high‑quality software systems that manage physical infrastructure at scale. Mentor engineers and contribute to a strong engineering culture. Background Requirements A Computer Science degree or comparable formal training, certification, or work experience. 5+ years of software development experience. Proficient in multiple programming languages, technologies, and frameworks. Advanced knowledge in system and data architecture, data modeling, and design patterns. Ability to review platform designs for performance, sustainability, and iterative development potential. Experience with common software engineering tools (Git, Jira, Confluence). Consistent delivery of high‑quality results. Comprehensive knowledge of fundamental Computer Science concepts (data structures, algorithms, system architecture, design patterns). Advanced understanding of development methodologies and processes. Experience developing and operating infrastructure‑as‑code solutions using Ansible, Terraform, or similar automation frameworks. Preferred Qualifications Experience automating hardware lifecycle management, firmware orchestration/automation, and capacity management across large‑scale physical infrastructure. Expertise with bare metal provisioning technologies (PXE/iPXE, Redfish, BMC/IPMI). Experience integrating bare metal infrastructure with virtualization and private cloud solutions. Experience with private cloud/virtualization platforms (OpenStack, VMware). Experience with Kubernetes and containerization platforms. Experience using observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Elasticsearch, Datadog). Knowledge of storage technologies and distributed storage platforms.
