Medical Receptionist/Customer Service Specialist

Overview The Customer Service Specialist is the first point of contact for patients and other patrons arriving at the medical centers. This position assists with patient check‑in, check‑out, answering phones and entails the following duties & responsibilities. Key Duties & Responsibilities Deliver excellent patient service. Answer telephone promptly and direct calls accordingly. Retrieve phone messages and transfer calls as necessary. Verify patient insurance. Retrieve all correspondence from all mailboxes and distribute accordingly. Prioritize the center’s business needs and provide flexibility to assist other areas as needed. Schedule appointments, check‑in/out patients, and obtain accurate patient information. Greet patients and visitors in a courteous/professional manner. Notify appropriate personnel of visitor arrival and direct visitors to the correct area. Perform clerical functions. Maintain/update directory of all employees in the center. Notify the transportation dispatcher when patients are ready for pick‑up. Maintain professional conduct and appearance at all times. Ensure waiting and reception areas are kept clean and tidy. Flexibility to commute to other centers if needed. Other duties as assigned. Required Skills & Abilities Exceptional customer service and phone etiquette. Ability to use computers to enter information. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Attention to detail. Ability to connect with patients and make them feel comfortable. Patience and presence of mind. eCW experience required. Education and Experience High school diploma or equivalent, and a minimum of one year work experience in a medical front desk or receptionist capacity. Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred. Physical Requirements Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. May require prolonged periods of standing, walking and bending. Ability to move/lift up to 20 pounds at times.
