Social Media & Communications Intern Or VolunteerWe are seeking a college student to join HBCU as a Social Media & Communications Intern or Volunteer. This is a learning-focused opportunity for a student who wants hands-on experience in nonprofit communications and a portfolio of published work. HBCU staff will help you build experience you can use toward an academic body of work.What You'll DoHelp plan and draft posts for HBCU's Instagram and Facebook using a monthly content calendar.Create simple graphics, captions and short videos that share our programs, events and community resources.Schedule approved posts using Meta's scheduling tools.Help track basic engagement and share ideas for growing our reach.Support other communications projects, such as event flyers and newsletter content.What You'll LearnContent strategy and planning for a mission-driven organizationCommunicating about maternal and family health with care and accuracyWorking within a professional review and approval processBuilding a portfolio of real, published workWho We're Looking ForCurrently enrolled college student, ideally in communications, marketing, graphic design, public health or a related fieldComfortable with Instagram, Facebook and a design tool such as CanvaStrong writing skills and attention to detailRespect for confidentiality and a genuine interest in community health and birth equityTerm And ScheduleOne (1) semester, with the option to discuss a longer term once it endsAbout 10 hours per month, scheduled in advance. All hours, including remote work, are recorded.Posting happens during set windows or through the scheduling tool, not on call.How We WorkHBCU owns and manages all account logins.Your supervisor reviews and approves posts before publishing.Participant names, stories or photos are never shared without signed consent.You'll sign a Volunteer Confidentiality and Code of Conduct Agreement before starting.This is an unpaid volunteer opportunity.
