Lead Drivability & Diagnostics Automotive Technician

Job Description

Job Description

Your Day, Your Craft

Picture this: It’s 8:00 AM in Rochester Hills. You clock in to a shop that’s been trusted since 1992, greet a tight-knit crew that values mastery over politics, and dive straight into the kind of challenges that keep your skills sharp—no sales games, no corporate noise.

Whether you’re employed and just curious or actively looking, we’re open to a confidential conversation. If you love diagnosing the hard stuff and want a voice in the shop, you’ll fit right in—and you’ll have a real runway to grow from an A-Level Technician into a Lead Technician, Shop Foreman, or Technical Manager as our business expands.

What You’ll Tackle

• Deep-dive diagnostics and electrical troubleshooting with accuracy over speed
• Solving drivability puzzles and chasing intermittent issues
• Powertrain focus: transmission diagnosis, repair, and replacement
• Engine diagnostics and major mechanical repairs
• Complex, high-skill work other techs may not be set up to handle
• Occasional general A-Level work to keep the workflow balanced

You’ll have the independence to diagnose properly and recommend the right fix—every time.

Schedule, Pay, and Perks

• Pay: $45–$55 per hour, weekly pay
• Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM (no Saturdays or Sundays)
• PTO: 80 hours paid time off + 72 hours paid sick time
• Holidays: 6 paid holidays
• Health: Health insurance with 50% employer contribution
• Career Growth: ASE testing and certifications paid by the shop
• Welcome Bonus: Signing/retention bonus up to $5,000

What You Bring

• 5+ years of professional auto repair experience
• Proven diagnostic and electrical strengths
• A-Level/Master-level mechanical capability
• Transmission experience strongly preferred
• Valid driver’s license
• Professional tool set
• ASE certifications preferred (skill and results matter most)

Why This Shop

We’ve served Rochester Hills since 1992 with a small, seasoned team that values craftsmanship and integrity. We want great technicians focused on diagnosing and repairing—not navigating dealership politics. If that sounds like your kind of place, let’s talk.
