Acara Solutions is seeking an experienced EHS Specialist for a direct placement opportunity with Edwards at their new advanced manufacturing facility in Basom, NY.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing organization and play a key role in establishing and maintaining a strong environmental, health, and safety culture. The EHS Specialist will serve as a subject matter expert and provide guidance to employees, contractors, suppliers, and visitors throughout the facility.

About the Role

The EHS Specialist will be responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable local, state, and federal regulations, industry standards, and company policies while supporting safe and efficient manufacturing operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and interpret EHS regulations, including OSHA, EPA, and applicable state and local requirements.
• Conduct risk assessments and hazard analyses for manufacturing processes and equipment.
• Evaluate hazards associated with chemicals, high-voltage equipment, compressed gases, cleanroom environments, and other industrial operations.
• Lead investigations of EHS incidents, accidents, and near-misses, including root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Conduct routine EHS audits, inspections, and follow-up activities.
• Develop, deliver, and track employee and contractor EHS training programs.
• Support training related to hazardous materials, lockout/tagout, emergency response, and other safety procedures.
• Oversee environmental programs involving waste management, air emissions, water discharge, and chemical storage.
• Support sustainability and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Develop and maintain emergency response procedures, evacuation plans, spill response, fire safety, and first-aid programs.
• Prepare EHS reports and maintain accurate records related to incidents, inspections, training, permits, and compliance activities.
• Evaluate PPE requirements and ensure appropriate PPE is available and being used properly.
• Partner with Production, Engineering, Maintenance, Human Resources, and external contractors to integrate EHS into facility operations.
• Review EHS plans for contractors and suppliers and monitor compliance during on-site activities.
• Promote continuous improvement and a strong safety culture throughout the facility.

Job Requirements

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Industrial Engineering, or a related field. Equivalent professional experience may be considered.
• 3+ years of experience in an EHS role , preferably within advanced manufacturing, semiconductor, or industrial environments.
• Strong knowledge of EHS regulations, standards, and best practices.
• Experience conducting risk assessments, incident investigations, audits, and inspections.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to train and engage employees at all levels.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and EHS management software.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities while maintaining strong attention to detail.
• Ability to work in industrial and cleanroom environments and wear required PPE.
• Commitment to teamwork, integrity, safety, and continuous learning.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary Range: $70,270-$87,840 per year
