Registered Nurse (RN) - Emergency Department

Location: Union Gap, WA

General Information:

• Facility Type: Off Campus Emergency Department
• Operations: Open 24/7
• Patient Capacity: 8-10 beds
• Experience: Minimum of 2 years of ER experience (any trauma level)
• Patient Demographics: Neonates, geriatrics, 25% pediatrics, walk-in traumas

Patient Types:

• Acute care patients across various medical specialties, including but not limited to:
• Cardiac
• Neuro
• Gastrointestinal (GI)
• Respiratory
• Psychiatric

Staffing and Support:

• Patient Ratios: 1:4
• Fast Track Ratio: 1:6
• Support Staff: Charge nurse, ED MDER Tech, front desk, EST/Phlebotomy team
• Assistive Roles: Majority of blood draws performed by RNs
• No respiratory therapists on-site; RNs manage ventilators and BiPAP

Required Certifications:

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
• Advanced NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
• NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)

Essential Skills:

• Strong emergency department experience
• Exceptional customer service abilities
• Ventilator management (BiPAP training provided during onboarding)
• Proficient in medication administration (mixing own medications)
• Experience with chest tubes and central lines
• Strong IV insertion skills

Unit Orientation:

• Hospital orientation: 1 day
• Full-day respiratory class (8 hours)
• Unit-specific training

Competency Requirements:

Traveler telemetry competency required to be completed and passed prior to start. Assessment conducted by a compliance organization.

Scheduling and Shifts:

• Shift Length: 12-hour shifts
• Weekend Rotation: Every other weekend
• Possible Shift Start Times:
• Days: 07:00
• Mids/Eves: 11:00, 13:00, 15:00
• Nights: 19:00

Holiday Expectations:

Expected to work every other holiday or 50% of holidays.

Time Off:

Requests for time off (RTO) will be approved up to 5 days.
