Saw Operator - Lafayette, IN

Position Summary
We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Saw Operator to join our manufacturing team. This position is responsible for accurately cutting metal materials to specification using industrial saw equipment while maintaining quality, productivity, and safety standards. The ideal candidate has manufacturing experience, can read a tape measure, and enjoys working in a fast-paced production environment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Set up and operate band saws, cold saws, or other industrial cutting equipment.
Read work orders, blueprints, and cut lists to determine material specifications and dimensions.
Measure, mark, and cut metal materials accurately using tape measures, calipers, and other measuring tools.
Inspect raw materials and finished pieces to ensure quality standards are met.
Load and unload materials using overhead cranes, forklifts, or other material handling equipment (training provided if needed).
Replace saw blades and perform routine machine maintenance and inspections.
Maintain accurate production records and complete required documentation.
Keep work area clean, organized, and free of safety hazards.
Follow all company safety policies, PPE requirements, and quality procedures.
Assist other departments as needed to support production goals.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED preferred.
Previous manufacturing or machine operation experience preferred.
Experience operating industrial saws or other fabrication equipment is a plus.
Ability to read a tape measure and perform basic math calculations.
Ability to read blueprints or work instructions is preferred.
Forklift and/or overhead crane experience is a plus.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift throughout a 10-hour shift.
Frequently lift up to 50 pounds, with heavier lifting assisted by equipment.
Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, moving machinery, and varying temperatures.
Must wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
