Patient Care Associate - Ortho/Trauma- FT - Nights- MRH

Location Hollywood, Florida Job Summary Under the supervision of an RN, performs basic patient care and other related technical and clinical support activities. Responsibilities Assists patients with personal care and activities of daily living, including bathing, grooming, and eating. Assists with keeping patient rooms/areas stocked, clean, and orderly. Performs basic patient care activities as delegated and supervised by an RN, including monitoring vital signs, EKG testing, phlebotomy, taking blood glucose measurements, and recording intake and output. Monitors patient status and response; reports abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental, and emotional conditions to nursing staff. Assists with transporting patients, as needed. Completes additional duties as assigned. Competencies Accountability Customer Service Organization Skills Patient and Family Centered Care Patient Safety – Ancillary/Support Problem Solving Responding to Change Standards of Behavior Qualifications Minimum three (3) months of patient care experience demonstrating the ability to perform basic patient care or certification of completion from a formal training program. Required education: No degree necessary. Credential: BLS American Heart Association certification, including BLS AHA E‑Card, BLS RQI E‑Card, BLS Red Cross, and other applicable BLS certifications. Must obtain EKG and phlebotomy competencies within six (6) months of hire date. Physical Requirements Work may require bending, stooping, climbing, kneeling, lifting, pushing, pulling, reaching, repetitive movement, and exposure to biohazardous materials. Detailed percentages (included for reference) include 60% for bending/stooping, 60% for keyboard entry, 60% for kneeling, 60% for lifting patients 35 pounds or greater, and other specified tasks. Candidates should be able to perform these duties in a stressful environment with minimal supervision.
