Residence Life Assistant (Summer for Success) Location: Beacon College, Leesburg, FL Department: Enrollment Management Supervisor Title: Resident Director Division: Admissions & Enrollment FLSA Classification: Non‑Exempt Job Grade: TBD Position Type: Staff Level: Staff Seasonal full‑time appointment dedicated to supporting the Summer for Success program from July 6 through August 2, 2026. Job Summary The Residence Life Assistant is a seasonal position that serves as a key member of the Beacon College‑offered summer programs. The assistant supports students in various aspects of residential and student life, including independent and college living skill development, student engagement activities, and evening and weekend programming. This role plays an integral part in the day‑to‑day operations of the residential program and in maintaining a safe, supportive, and inclusive living environment for students. The Residence Life Assistant reports directly to the Resident Director and works under the indirect supervision of the Residence Life Coordinator, Associate Director of Summer Programs, and other designated program administrators. Duties and Tasks Reside in assigned on‑campus housing and provide residential coverage for the program, including weekdays, evenings, and weekends, supporting a safe and supportive living environment; Support the planning and supervision of evening and weekend on‑ and off‑campus activities and excursions for students, including participation in off‑campus trips each weekend, with additional coverage as program needs require; Participate in an on‑call rotation, including overnight and weekend coverage, responding appropriately to student needs, incidents, or emergencies in accordance with program protocols; Observe and evaluate student behavior and engagement within the residential environment and assist with the implementation of intervention strategies as directed; Assist with the facilitation of independent living and college readiness activities, workshops, and student engagement opportunities; Attend and actively participate in all required staff meetings, including pre‑program training sessions and ongoing staff development meetings; Support the planning and facilitation of opening day activities and other program events as assigned; Communicate student‑related concerns, incidents, or observations to Beacon College Residence Life Staff, Course Instructors, or other appropriate program personnel in a timely and professional manner; Collect, document, and maintain accurate student data on a daily basis or as directed to support intervention planning and end‑of‑program evaluation efforts; Maintain a thorough understanding of, and comply with, all program policies, expectations, and procedures, modeling professional conduct throughout the duration of the program; and Carry out other duties as assigned by program leadership to support the overall success and integrity of the summer programs. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge Knowledge of residential life operations, student supervision practices, and community living standards. Foundational knowledge of learning differences, neurodiversity, and inclusive practices supporting diverse student needs. Knowledge of student development principles, including social, emotional, and behavioral development. Knowledge of confidentiality, privacy, and ethical standards when working with student information. Knowledge of college transition skills and independent living competencies. Skills Strong observation and documentation skills, with attention to detail when collecting and recording student data and program information. Problem‑solving skills with the ability to identify student needs or concerns and communicate them appropriately to supervisors. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with an ability to collaborate effectively with students, parents, faculty, and staff in person, on the phone, and over e‑mail. Exceptional time and organizational skills with a systematic approach to managing tasks and priorities. Abilities Ability to provide appropriate supervision in residential and program settings to ensure student safety and well‑being. Ability to maintain a professional and patient approach when working with students, parents, and other Beacon College community members. Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with diverse internal and external stakeholders. Availability and willingness to participate in evening and weekend on‑call duties and respond to emergencies. Strong ability to remain composed and maintain a clear focus during high‑stress situations.
