Laboratory Compliance Officer

Laboratory Compliance Officer 2 This posting is for current internal ADHS applicants only. Salary: $61,362. Grade: 21. Job Location Address: 250 N 17th Ave, Phoenix, AZ 85007. Job Summary Performs work in the Laboratory Licensure and Certification Office. Assists or determines the issuing of licenses to laboratories (clinical) by ensuring minimum standards of proficiency, methodology, quality assurance, operation, and safety. Conducts initial and periodic inspections of laboratories and facilities to determine compliance with Federal Code of Regulations, state statutes or rules. Reviews quality systems by tracking documents, corrective actions, and other quality data. Conducts investigations of laboratory operations upon receiving complaints or of unlicensed laboratories. Requires periodic travel. Job Duties Set up and perform inspections to determine compliance with statutes, rules, and internal procedures, including travel and accommodation. Monitor and review quality systems for assigned disciplines. Attend staff, advisory committee, and laboratory organization meetings. Participate in investigations as directed. Request feedback from clients regarding services. Perform other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs) Knowledge Federal regulations and Arizona Revised Statutes related to laboratory testing, general laboratory procedures, lab safety precautions, especially with infectious agents or hazardous materials. Performance Management, Continuous Quality Improvement, and Lean methodologies. Skills Review and read professional literature; high-level oral and written communication, analytical review, interpersonal relationships, active listening, organizational, evaluation, repetition, education/training. Abilities Change priorities as issues arise; problem solving (root cause); work independently; perform reviews of laboratory testing; analyze data, reporting, and evaluation of analyst qualifications providing compliance data. Selective Preference Minimum Bachelor's degree in laboratory science plus 3+ years relevant experience in lab field. Pre-Employment Requirements Current internal ADHS applicants only. Driver’s license and ability to travel. State, Federal or National certification/approval for appropriate field(s); must be obtained within 1 year of employment.
