About CalCIMA CalCIMA is the statewide trade association representing producers of aggregates, ready mixed concrete, concrete products, asphalt, industrial and critical minerals. Our members operate hundreds of facilities throughout California and play a critical role in delivering the materials needed for housing, transportation, water, energy, and public works projects. The Role The Director of Concrete & Aggregates Advocacy and Industry Affairs will serve as the primary staff lead for issues affecting concrete and aggregate producers throughout California. The position combines advocacy, regulatory engagement, technical expertise, member relations, and industry leadership. The successful candidate will work closely with member companies, government agencies, industry partners, and CalCIMA’s policy team to address issues affecting the industry’s ability to operate and grow. Monitoring and responding to legislative, regulatory, and policy developments affecting concrete and aggregate producers Supporting member companies on material specification and building code advocacy and compliance, operational issues, public workscompliance, and regulatory challenges Representing CalCIMA in industry, agency, and stakeholder forums including Caltrans and Department of Industrial Relations Staffing member committees and facilitating industry consensus on priority issues Supporting advocacy efforts related to material specification and building codes, sustainability initiatives, public workscompliance, and construction standards Building and maintaining strong relationships with member companies, regulators, elected officials, and industry partners Providing technical and policy analysis to support CalCIMA’s advocacy initiatives What We’re Looking For We’re looking for a strong communicator, relationship builder, and problem solver who can effectively represent the interests of California’s construction materials industry. Successful candidates may come from a variety of backgrounds, including: Construction materials operations Regulatory or government affairs Engineering or technical services Trade associations Policy advocacy Public workscompliance Infrastructure, construction, manufacturing, mining or construction materials industries Preferred qualifications include: Familiarity with issues affecting production and operational aspects of concrete and aggregate materials, material properties, sustainability opportunities, specification and code development processes, and public works requirements. Experience working with regulatory agencies, industry stakeholders, or public policy processes Ability to analyze complex regulatory, legislative, or technical issues and communicate them clearly Strong written and verbal communication skills Demonstrated ability to build consensus and maintain productive professional relationships Commitment to delivering responsive, high‑quality service to members and stakeholders A combination of education, industry experience, and demonstrated leadership will be considered.
