Solution Architect

Overview

Steampunk ** is** seeking a  Solution Architect  to drive pre-sales technical engagement and solution design for ourFederalmarket clients. This individual will report to the Chief Technology Officer andwill team with our client portfolioteams to seek anunderstandingof ourclients’technical requirements, envisioning innovative solutions, and supporting business development activities through technicalexpertiseand consultative skills. The Solution Architect will work closely with salesand deliveryteams to translate complex technical capabilities into compelling client solutions across all Federal market sectorswith the goal of growing the business.

Contributions

You will work as a key technical resource supporting Steampunk's business development and client engagement efforts. We are looking for candidates with5-10 years of experience who can serve as trusted technical advisors to Federal clients and internal sales teams. This role requiresstrong communicationskills to articulate technical solutions to both technical and executive audiences, along with the ability to understand diverse client environments and craft tailored solutions.

You will act as both technical consultant and strategic advisor, bridging the gap between Steampunk's technical capabilities and client mission requirements.

Responsibilities include

• Serves as the primary technical resource for pre-sales activities across all Federal market sectors (Homeland, Federal Civilian, Health, and DoD)

• Partners with sales teams to understand client technical requirements and develop compelling solution architectures

• Conducts technical discovery sessions with prospective clients to assess current state,identifychallenges, and envision future state solutions

• Develops technical content for proposals, RFI responses, market research, and other business development materials

• Creates solution architectures and technical approaches thatdemonstrateSteampunk's capabilities inDevSecOps, Cloud, Software Development, Cybersecurity, Data, AI/ML, and Digital Platforms

• Delivers technical presentations and demonstrations to client stakeholders at various levels

• Collaborates with internal technical teams to ensure proposed solutions arefeasibleand aligned with delivery capabilities

• Maintains current knowledge of Federal technology trends, requirements, and emerging opportunities

• Supports competitive positioning by understanding market landscape and differentiating Steampunk's technical approach

• Participates in client meetings, industry events, and networking opportunities to build relationships andidentifynew business opportunities

• Documents technical requirements, solution designs, and lessons learned to inform future engagements

• Works closely with Operations Directors and Program Managers to transition successful proposals to delivery teams

Qualifications

Required

• Ability to obtain a U.S. government Security Clearance

• BS Degree in an IT field OR BS in a non-IT field and5years related IT experience

• 5-10 years of technology experience withdemonstratedexpertisein 2-3 of the followingareas, with working knowledge across the remaining areas:

• DevSecOpspractices and tooling

• Cloud Architecture, Engineering, and Operations (AWS, Azure, GCP)

• Software Development and modern development practices

• Cybersecurity frameworks and implementation

• Data Architecture, Engineering, and Operations

• Data Science, Machine Learning, and Artificial Intelligence

• Digital Platforms and low-code/no-code solutions (e.g., Salesforce)

• Experience in pre-sales, technical sales, solution consulting, or technical account management roles

• Strong client-facing communication and presentation skills

• Ability to translate technical concepts for both technical and executive audiences

• Experience working with Federal clients or understanding of Federal technology requirements preferred

• Candidates must be local to Washington, DC and able to support in-person customer engagements.

• Will be required to be on site 2-3 days a week

• Excellent written communication skills for proposal and technical documentation development

Preferred

• Hands-on technical experience in one or more core competency areas

• Technology certifications in relevant areas (AWS, Azure,GCP,Salesforce, etc.)

• Previousexperience with Federal contracting or government technology initiatives

• Experience with Human-Centered Design methodologies

• Background in technical writing for proposals, RFIs, or market research

• History of supporting successful business development activities
