School Counselor Position Available

Sylvan Learning is looking for a licensed school counselor to join our team of proud educators. We are the leading provider in K-12 tutoring in the United States. We work with students in public and non-public schools to support their educational needs. We believe in helping students thrive in the classroom. We are looking for someone who can help our students in an in-school setting.

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following:

Provide individual, small group and classroom guidance counseling with students. Students must have signed parental consent. Counseling is provided to enhance and grow school functioning and performance.
Consult with parents, classroom teachers, school principal and other school personnel to maximize effectiveness of services, as appropriate.
Help teacher teams with assessments.
Serve as a resource for parents and school personnel to assist in locating services that assist individuals in our community.
Participate in supervision on regular basis with the Program Supervisor.
Complete all required paperwork in an accurate and timely manner.
Keep up to date with best practices and trends in the field of school counseling.
Perform services in an in-school capacity

Qualifications:

Must have a current and active license as an LCSW under the Louisiana State Board of Social Work Examiners or as an LPC under the Louisiana State Board of Licensed Professional Counselors
Must hold a valid Ancillary Certificate from the Louisiana Department of Education in one of the following areas: Mental Health Counselor - Provisional, Mental Health Counselor - Qualified, Social Worker - Provisional, Social Worker - Qualified, School Guidance Counselor K-12
