Manager of Student Success

Job Description The School of Pharmacy has an outstanding opportunity for a Manager of Student Success to join their team. About this Opportunity Reporting to the Assistant Dean for Student Affairs, this position collaborates with the Assistant Dean and other School leadership to promote the academic success and personal well-being of students across the School of Pharmacy. This role also provides direct advising to current PharmD students and develops programmatic initiatives and structures that engage other staff and faculty supporting students. This position requires a wide range of core competencies, including student advising, active listening, professionalism, stakeholder engagement, resource and policy expertise, program and project management, and written and verbal communication skills. The position plays a lead role in supporting PharmD students in their academic success and personal well-being, an area of support mandated by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE). The position serves as a liaison to UW campus resources (e.g., International Student Services, Counseling Center, Veterans Education Benefits, etc.), so the ability to proactively nurture these partnerships is also important. Key Responsibilities Student Support and Advising 60% Advise and refer current students experiencing academic or personal problems to other UW resources such as Office of Financial Aid, Student Fiscal Services, Residency Office, International Student Services, Student Activities Office, UW Libraries, Disability Resources for Students, etc. Advise current students and refer to other School of Pharmacy staff as content experts, as needed, for areas such as registration, financial assistance, student lounge issues, etc. Refer current students to School of Pharmacy faculty for professional and career advising, including employment, residency, fellowship, post-PharmD training and other opportunities as appropriate Advise and provide support for students involved in academic and/or behavioral misconduct issues, personal crises, grievance procedures, etc. Advise current PharmD students individually and/or in groups on academic decision-making (e.g., core course registration, elective course selection, authorizations, licensing requirements and compliance, credit loads, course requirements, degree completion, academic planning based on decisions made in the PharmD Academic Success Committee, concurrent degree considerations, etc.) Meet with students as part of the development and implementation of individual Academic Plans.
