Preschool Teacher

Job Description

Job Description

The Way Preschool in San Marcos is hiring a part-time, fully qualified Preschool Teacher — $20–$23/hour DOE, 25–35 hours a week — with a real path to grow into a full-time Lead Teacher role as we expand. You'll serve as the lead teacher in a classroom full days on Tuesday and Thursday, and as a closing aide and co-teacher on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. It's a great fit for a qualified teacher who wants to put down roots, learn from a strong team, and grow with a fast-growing school.

Why teach at The Way

We're not a screens-and-worksheets daycare. The Way is a Reggio-Emilia-inspired, faith-based preschool nestled in the San Marcos countryside, built on the belief that every child is precious and deserves unhurried, attentive, holistic care. We're proudly screen-free, with one of the largest outdoor classrooms in North County San Diego — so much of the learning happens hands-on, outside, in the fresh air. More than anything, we're building a team and a culture we're proud of, where teachers feel supported, valued, and genuinely excited to come to work. In just three years we've grown fast and been independently recognized as one of the highest-rated preschools in San Marcos.

Grow with us

This role is built for someone who wants to grow. You'll get great training, mentorship from an experienced team, and the chance to step into a full-time Lead Teacher role as we expand and open new centers. If you're looking for a place to build a career — not just pick up hours — this is it.

What you'll do

• Lead a classroom Tuesdays and Thursdays (full days): plan and run hands-on, developmentally appropriate days and provide warm, holistic care
• Serve as a closing aide and co-teacher on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, supporting lead teachers and our children
• Build strong, trusting relationships with children and families
• Help keep our environment safe, nurturing, and welcoming
• Be a positive, dependable part of our team and culture

Who you are

Above all, you love Jesus and you love children, and you believe early childhood is a sacred, formative stage. You're also:

• Stable, present, and hard-working — someone families and coworkers can count on
• A genuine team player who lifts up the people around them
• Eager to learn, grow, and take on more responsibility over time

Requirements

Required:

• A heart for Jesus, for children, and for early childhood education and holistic care
• Minimum 12 ECE units and fully qualified Teacher status
• AA in Early Childhood Education or Child Development (or higher)
• Availability for full days Tuesday and Thursday, plus closing shifts Monday, Wednesday, and Friday
• CPR/First Aid (or willingness to obtain), cleared background check, and required immunizations

Preferred:

• Lead teaching experience
• Familiarity with Procare
• An artistic bent — music, art, crafts, or creative expression you can bring into the classroom
• Bachelor's degree

Benefits and pay

• $21–$23/hour DOE
• 25–35 hours per week
• Great training and mentorship, with a clear path to grow into a full-time Lead Teacher role as our school grows.
• Paid time off and all major holidays off
• Tuition reimbursement and discounted tuition for your own children
• A supportive, close-knit team and a culture we're proud of
