Patient Registration Clerk - PRN - Hospital - Okmulgee

The purpose of this position is to gather and enter all pertinent information for patients admitted for services. Position is required to interview patient upon arrival to the facility and ensure all required documents are signed and entered into the Electronic Health Record system. Position is required to complete other tasks as needed.

Work is performed in a hospital and ambulatory health care setting. Risk of exposure to infectious disease does exist.

Performance of duties requires being seated for long periods entering data and requires the demands of normal medical record and office work.

Satisfactory job performance will be determined by successful execution of the following:

1. Interviews patients or representatives to obtain reason for visit, all demographic information, person to notify in case of emergency, attending physician and individual or insurance company responsible for payment. Verify insurance eligibility and benefits, perform and/or complete prior authorization requirements, as needed, and schedule for services.
2. Explains necessary hospital rules and regulations to incoming patients.
3. Enter/register patients admitting information into the computer, obtain required signatures on required forms, and scan into Electronic Health Record as necessary. Route printed copies to designated departments.
4. Answers daily inquiries of patients and public in person or via telephone regarding registration procedures, hospital regulations and services. When necessary, refers inquirers to appropriate personnel or department elsewhere in the hospital.
5. Regular attendance is required.
6. Performs other duties as required.
